Circinus, a constellation discovered by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in 1751, means "pair of draftsman's compasses."  We chose this name to reflect our desire to help our clients maximize their business potential by better plotting their future.

Circinus International LLC was established in 2006 to help meet the strategic planning needs of various constituents. Majority shareholder Carolyn Thomas and minority shareholder Brook Spaulding, have extensive experience in banking and capital markets, pulp & paper, converting and printing industries. They also have a passion for environmentally friendly solutions and hold multiple patents for envelope and envelope-related "green" designs that consume fewer natural resources than traditional mail based products.

Carolyn spent 20 years in corporate and investment banking in New York, Stockholm, and Boston after graduating from Mount Holyoke College. She served as Managing Director and Head of Syndications in the last 10 years of her banking career.

Brook is a former marketing, sales, and product manager of Champion International (bought by IP) and President of Sheppard Envelope Company. After graduating from Dartmouth College, Brook continued his education and received a MSM from the Sloan School of Management at MIT('91).

Consulting

Services range from diagnostic surveys (SWOT analysis) to strategic advice. The firm also offers sales, marketing, and pricing services with vast experience in business-to-business sales. Both Carolyn and Brook have experience working with grants from SBANE (Smaller Business Association of New England) and NETAAC (New England Trade Adjustment and Assistance Center). Licensing of Environmentally Friendly Mailable and Non-Mailable Products

With roughly 211 billion pieces of mail processed by the USPS each year, Circinus International LLC currently offers three products for license to printers and envelope converters that significantly reduce the amount of paper and energy needed to support mail based communication:

1. ZIPMAE™: an interactive, environmentally friendly envelope with integrated post card(s), membership-business-affinity-loyalty card(s), and/or protective sleeve(s). See more samples at the upcoming NEDMA (New England Direct Marketing Association) Annual Conference on April 30.
   
   
2. Boomerang Green Envylope™: an interactive, environmentally friendly 2-way envelope that meets or exceeds all USPS automation requirements and is ideal for billing, fundraising, direct mail, etc. – uses roughly 35% less paper than separate outgoing and return envelopes – even more when an insert is displaced by using the inside face panel for copy. A version, trademarked as The Boomerang Envirolope™, is currently manufactured by Sheppard Envelope Company (www.sheppardenvelope.com) -- additional licensees welcomed.
   
   
3. Multimedia Remailable Envelope: provides a machine insertable outgoing envelope, an integrated reply envelope that can hold a DVD (or other medium) – weighing less than 1 ounce – all with the promise of fewer jams and less breakage in the USPS automated mail processing equipment than other competing styles which use forms based technology instead of envelope based technology.
